Enrollment FAQs

All of the most frequently asked questions
about enrolling at Galileo School.

  • Yes! We offer before and after care from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. We also offer after school enrichment clubs based on children's interests.

  • Testing is not necessary for admission to Galileo School. Onsite educational testing can be done when needed. Any student may enroll as long as their parents want them to learn in an accelerated learning environment.

  • Per Galileo's Charter Agreement with Seminole County and inter-district agreement with OCPS, students who are children of Galileo School employees and Board members residing in Orange County can attend Galileo School and receive preference in the lottery. Beginning January 2017, all other children residing outside of Seminole County who wish to apply to Galileo and have not been subject to a current expulsion or suspension from another Florida county may submit an application (1002.31 F.S.). Applications must be received by the deadline posted on the Galileo Website to be included in the rolling lottery. After considering maximum class size pursuant to s.1003.03(4), F.S. and after all Seminole County student applicants have been placed, other applications from out-of-county students will be placed in a separate lottery using the lottery procedures outlined on our website and assigned any remaining open seats at Galileo. Per the Galileo School for Gifted Learning Charter, at no time should a student who does not have enrollment preference from outside Seminole County have preference in the lottery over a student who resides in Seminole County.

  • Yes. We use Lands' End for our uniforms. For more details, click here.

  • Our enrollment will be approximately 580 students on the Riverbend campus and 760 on the Skyway campus. We follow state class size laws, with an average of 18 students per class in the younger grades and 22 students in the upper elementary grades (4th/5th) and middle school.

  • A random lottery for admission to the Galileo School is held at posted times throughout the year. If enrollment applications exceed the capacity of the school, students are placed on a waitlist for their grade. Parents do not need to be present for their child to be considered for the lottery.

  • All Applications for the 2024-2025 school year will be accepted in person only at the Skyway Campus.

3755 Skyway Drive, Sanford, FL 32773

    Applications may be submitted on Monday–Friday, 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. (preferred hours 9:00-3:00)

Our initial lottery of the year will take place on 03/15/2024. Applications submitted by March 4, 2024 will be reviewed at our initial lottery. All applicants will receive an email offer or notice of wait list placement.

  • Once a completed application has been received by our office, an email confirmation will be sent to the email address provided on the application within 7 business days. Confirmation emails are not automated. If you have not received a confirmation email within 7–10 business days, please contact our office to verify receipt.

  • Once a student has been admitted, you will receive an offer letter via email to the address listed on your lottery application.

  • Written notice of acceptance must be received within two business days of receipt of the offer. Enrollment is not complete until registration packets are submitted to the school by the posted deadline. Families who decline enrollment or neglect to submit their registration packets on time will forfeit their spot in the Galileo School.

  • Our number-one rule centers on the Golden Rule and a no teasing/bullying policy. We have both a dean and a behavior specialist who work with students individually and in groups to help promote prosocial behaviors as well as to help students struggling with emotional issues. All of our teachers are either gifted endorsed or working on their endorsement, which includes training in the social/emotional needs of gifted and talented students.

  • We follow state guidelines which state that Kindergartners must be five by September 1 of the school year.

  • Most charter schools fail because of their inability to find a suitable, affordable facility that meets school building codes in time for opening day. We have now established a strong community connection with our families in the area, so we chose to remain in the Sanford area with our current school buildings.

  • We urge all parents to join our PTA. Community volunteers should contact our Office Manager, Jenny Slavik, at jenny.slavik@galileogiftedschool.orgto sign up in area of your interest or expertise.
