Mr. Jay Emmert

Music Teacher

Jay Emmert has been a music educator since 2001 and holds a Bachelors in Music Education from Indiana State University. Most of his career has been spent teaching music within grades 5-12 in both Florida and Indiana. Mr. Emmert has had the opportunity to teach band, choir, orchestra, music theory, general music, music appreciation, piano, and guitar. His music ensembles have been invited to perform at multiple professional events such as performing the national anthem for a St. Louis Cardinals/Chicago Cubs MLB game in Busch Stadium and at halftime for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers/Chicago Bears NFL game in Raymond James Stadium. Mr. Emmert’s high school marching bands have made the Indiana Marching Band State Finals held at Lucas Oil Stadium four times, won the Florida Marching Band State Championship held at Tropicana Field for four consecutive seasons, and have performed in the Main Street Parade in Magic Kingdom three times. His middle school and high school concert bands have earned consistent Superior Ratings throughout his career. Mr. Emmert has also been the Corps Director of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps and was on the instructional staff with the Phantom Regiment for nine years winning the Drum Corps International World Championship in 2008. He is an active marching band adjudicator and has judged marching band contests in multiple states including the Florida Marching Band Championships. Mr. Emmert has been the recipient of multiple awards over the course of his career including: Walmart Teacher of the Year, Pinellas County Outstanding Educator Award, and the Courier & Press Educator of the Year Runner Up. When he is not teaching, Mr. Emmert enjoys spending time with his wife, Amanda, and their three children (Grant, Katarina, and Aurora).
